Yeah, don’t give Meta’s Muse app access to your Mac
9-5 Mac :: 09/28/2026 12:44:53 PM
The ability of AI systems to act as agents, carrying out tasks on our behalf, is the single biggest development in the technology. This is the headline capability Siri AI introduces to Apple devices, and I’m inclined to trust the privacy and safety safeguards Apple has put into place. But Siri AI isn’t the only agent you can give full access to your Apple devices, with Meta’s Muse app the latest example – and one tech writer’s experience really underlines why you absolutely don’t want to do this … more…

The iPhone 18 Pro: The best and final iteration of the current form factor?
9-5 Mac :: 09/28/2026 12:08:02 PM
There’s a running joke that Apple always breathlessly announces that each year’s iPhone Pro is “the best iPhone we’ve ever made,” as if that were in some way surprising. But I do think that there’s some poignancy to the iPhone 18 Pro, because if the rumors about next year’s model are true, this could be the final iteration of the form factor that began with the iPhone X back in 2017. Specifically, we’re expecting next year to see the next big step toward that “single slab of glass” vision which will end the era…

Here’s what I’d like to see Apple do right in a screenless fitness tracker

This is my top feature request for the upcoming A20 Pro iPad mini
9-5 Mac :: 09/27/2026 9:38:44 PM
For the past year, we’ve been looking forward to a new iPad mini refresh, and it’s sounding like its just around the corner. A new leak last week from Aaron Perris unveiled that the product should feature an A20 Pro chip and thinner bezels, and we already know it’ll feature OLED and a water resistant design. While those upgrades are excellent, I have one major thing I want from the next iPad mini, and it has to do with software. more…

Report: Apple working on new Vision Pro, with different form factors on the table
9-5 Mac :: 09/27/2026 2:47:05 PM
After the release of Vision Pro, everyone wanted to know how long it would be before the company could release a lighter version that isn’t so bulky on your face. For the longest time, we had been looking forward to a so-called Vision Air, codenamed N100. That project was shelved last year, though the company is working on a new project with similar aspirations, per Bloomberg. more…
