One possible workaround provided by a Reddit user that may still work on the black spaces.
So I did this, tested it, and it's worked so far.
Go to youtube
Click your profile icon in the top right
Click youtube settings
Go to Privacy
Scroll down and click on Google Ads Settings
Turn off ads personalization/ads based on your interests
If you're logged into multiple accounts, Do the same for every account you're signed into. Including brand accounts.
Just confirmed the Chrome workaround also works using a Brave Browser. No more blank spaces ads or audio remain using the Brave browser without any adblock extensions installed except for SponsorBlock for YouTube, and Turn Off YouTube Autoplay Next & Annotations
