Thieves usually don’t target banks anymore, as advancements in cybersecurity have made them a tough nut to crack. But that wasn’t always the case, and the new film “Heist 88” which premieres on Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, Sept. 29 is inspired by the true events of one of the biggest bank robberies in the history of the United States.
Criminal genius Jeremy Horne (Courtney Vance) is going to prison. The charismatic thief’s life has finally caught up with him, but before he’s put behind bars he wants to pull one last big job. To help him, Horne convinces four bank employees to assist in the theft of more than $80 million, an assault that could bring the entire banking system of the U.S. to its knees.
